Recruitment privacy notice
Last updated 12 October 2026
This explains what Ojaoba does with the information you give us when you apply for the Growth & Sales Associate (“Growth Hustler”) role. It is about job applicants only. How we handle shop owners’ information is in our main privacy page. We have tried to write this to be read, not to hide things.
What we collect
Only what you type into the application form:
- How to reach you: your name, WhatsApp number and email address.
- Practical details: whether you are in Lagos, elsewhere in Nigeria or outside Nigeria; whether you are available full-time; when you could start; whether the pay suits you.
- Your answers: a link to your work if you give one, the experience you tick, and everything you write in answer to our questions.
- A record of your consent: that you ticked the box, when, and which version of this notice was current.
We do not ask for a CV, photo, date of birth, home address, ID or bank details, or sensitive information such as your health, religion, ethnicity or politics. Please do not put those in your written answers. If you shortlist yourself into our later stages, we may ask for more, and we will say why at that point.
Your browser keeps your half-finished answers in its own temporary memory for that tab while you fill in the form, so you do not lose them if you go back a step. It is never sent anywhere until you send the application, and it disappears when you close the tab.
Why we use it
- To read and assess your application, and to decide whether to take you to the next stage.
- To contact you about it, by WhatsApp or email.
- To keep a record of how we hired, so we can be fair and consistent.
People make the decisions. We use a scoring guide so every applicant is read against the same criteria. The scores are a guide for the person reading your application. Nobody is accepted or rejected automatically because of a score.
Who can see it
Only the Ojaoba team members involved in hiring, after signing in to our admin area. Your application is never shown publicly and is not shared with other companies. It is stored in our database with the same providers that run Ojaoba (our hosting and database services), which handle it only to store it for us.
If you are shortlisted, we also keep the notes we make, the practical assignment we may send you, what you send back, and our review of it.
How long we keep it
| Applications that do not go further | Deleted 12 months after the last activity on them. |
|---|---|
| If you are hired | Moved into your employment records, which are kept under our employment record rules. |
| If you ask us to delete it | We delete it sooner (see below). |
Your rights
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 you can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it. You can also withdraw your consent at any time. That does not undo anything we did before you withdrew, but we will stop and, if you ask, delete your application. If you are unhappy with how we handled your information, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
Contact
To ask about your application or use any of the rights above, write to hello@ojaoba.africa from the email address you applied with, so we know it is you.
Changes
If we change this notice in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top. Each application records which version it was sent under.
